Wilson A. Wheeler

Wilson Andrew “Andy” Wheeler, 51, of Martinsburg, WV, passed away peacefully in the hospital on Feb. 3, 2024.

Born in Washington DC on Aug. 15, 1972, Andy was the son of Edward N. Wheeler, Sr. and the late Shirley Lee Danner Wheeler. A 1990 graduate of Jefferson High School, Andy also attended Shepherd College and WVU. Andy’s career journey included skilled work as an electrician and later as a DNA Senior Tech Associate at Qiagen Sciences, LLC.

Andy was a sports enthusiast and a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and the Las Vegas Raiders. He also enjoyed watching/playing soccer, skateboarding, golf, and bowling. His participation in the 4-H club highlighted his community spirit as a youth.

Surviving him are his father, Edward N. Wheeler and his wife Freda Jones, of Martinsburg, WV; sisters Christina Arvin of Martinsburg, WV, and Robin Marcus and her husband Ronnie, of Charles Town, WV; brother Edward N. “Eddie” Wheeler, II and his wife Lora, of Durham, NC; his uncle and aunt, Joseph and Patricia Hagan; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his beloved Doberman, Kandy.

Preceding him in death were his mother, Shirley Lee Danner Wheeler, and his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Virginia Danner, as well as his paternal grandparents, Howard and Hilda Wheeler.

A service to celebrate Andy’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Ranson, WV, with Dr. Henry Christie officiating.

Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation from 10-11 a.m. on the same day at the funeral home. Interment will be scheduled at a later date for a private remembrance.
