Agnes R. Hull Tabler
Agnes Rosalie Hull Tabler, 96, of Shepherdstown, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born Jan. 18, 1928, in Hedgesville, WV, she was the daughter of the late Robert B. Hull and Bertha Grace Edwards Hutzler.
She retired from Shepherd University on June 30, 2010, where she served as the Associate Registrar for 50 years.
Mrs. Tabler was a member of the New Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Goodwill Bible Class and the United Methodist Women and was also a Sunday School Secretary as well as a recording secretary for the Administrative Council for many years.
She was a member of Shepherdstown Chapter #155, Order of Eastern Star, and the Mecklenburg CEOS Club, and was a Charter Member of Turner White Unit #126 American Legion Auxiliary. Additionally, she served as a Judge at the Jefferson County Fair for many years and was a long-time supporter of the 4-H and the FFA.
She was a 1944 graduate of Hedgesville High School as well as a 1948 graduate of Shepherd College, where she earned a B.A. degree in Secondary Education. She was named the Outstanding Alumna from Shepherd University for 2004. She was initiated in the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society in April 2005.
Agnes is survived by a son, Daniel Tabler, II and wife Jayne, of Georgetown, Delaware; two daughters, Susan Zigler, and husband Richard, of Charles Town, and Kathy Jo Blue and husband John, of Shenandoah Junction; four grandchildren, Amanda Zigler Habel, Julie Tabler Arnold, Joshua Zigler and Sarah Blue Raines; and great grandchildren, Rodney Raines, Emily Arnold, Evan Arnold, Juniper Habel, Kip Raines, and Marilyn Habel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Walker Tabler, who passed away in 1991; two brothers, William Hull and Robert Hull, Jr.; and a sister, Patricia A. Miller.
Family will receive friends on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg with an Eastern Star Service at 7:45 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the New Street United Methodist Church in Shepherdstown with The Reverend DeeAnn Dixon officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
