Harry E. Darr

Harry Eugene Darr, 80, of Shepherdstown, WV passed away Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.

Born June 30, 1943 in Weverton, MD, he was the son of the late John Raymond Darr and Abbie Longerbeam Darr.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Harry was retired from S.W. Rodgers after many years of service. After retirement, he was known for his firewood business. He was an avid and hopeless flea marketer and yard sale-aholic. Harry’s nephew, Kendall was his right-hand man and ever steady helper.

He is survived by two daughters, Abbie Darr and her son, Hunter, at home in Shepherdstown and Tammy Getts of Harpers Ferry, siblings, Betty Fauble, Hazel Carter, Margaret Darr, Patricia Heffner, Nancy Shipe and Claude Raymond “Buss” Darr, his faithful K-9 companion, Oakley, a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he dearly loved and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Ann Darr, one son, Samuel Leon Hardy, grandson, John Armstrong, III, three sisters, Leva Frye, Mary Lust and Josephine Matthews and one brother, Donald Darr.

Services werbe held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV. Interment followed in St. Andrews on the Mount.
