Rosario T. Tan

Rosario Toribio Tan, beloved wife, mother, grandmother “Lola”, “Auntie”, and devoted member of the Catholic faith and community, passed away on May 12, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on Dec. 20, 1938, in Manila, Philippines, she was the daughter of the late Maxima and Adriano Toribio.

Rosario’s life was marked by love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling and volunteering at St. Agnes Catholic Church. She was known in the community as an excellent cook and loved entertaining friends and family. Her warm smile and nurturing spirit left an indelible mark on those around her.

Rosario is survived by her loving husband, Vigilio M. Tan, their children: Paul T. Tan, Peter T. Tan (Anna), John T. Tan (Nancy), Joy T. Strauch (Eric), Mark T. Tan, nine grandchildren (Alexis, Elena, Katie, Natalie, Lucas, Jack, Nathan, Sophie, and Jessica), and her siblings: Mercedes Mendoza, Teresita Fernandez, and Aurelio Toribio. They will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

A memorial service to celebrate Rosario’s life was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Shepherdstown, WV. The Reverend Matt Rowgh officiated the service. A private interment followed.
