Dean A. Greer

Dean A. Greer, 61, of Martinsburg, WV, passed away on May 27, 2024 at the George Washington University Hospital.

Dean was a bright light in the lives of many people. Dean was kind, humorous, and adored his family. He had a passion for golf. Dean began his career at Poolesville Golf Course as an assistant in 1994. In 1997, Dean became the Head Professional at Laytonsville Golf Course in Montgomery County, MD. Then in 1999, Dean became a member of the Professional Golfers Association (PGA). During his years at Laytonsville, Dean received many awards including the 2003 MAPGA Youth Player Development Award and the 2010 MAPGA Player Development Award. He was also elected as Mid-Atlantic PGA Central Chapter President for 2012-13. He mentored many youth and had a passion for educating and spreading his love for the game of golf. Dean also spent time as the Head Professional, General Manager, and Assistant Professional at various courses, recently landing as the Head Professional at Richland GC.

Dean is survived by his parents Dave and Susie Greer; daughters, Stefanie Walker and her husband David, Brooke Rejonis and her husband Christian (Cason), Hayley Wagner and her husband Tyler; son, Dean Greer Jr; brother, Dave Greer and wife Claire; sister, Sonja Mann and her husband Bobby; as well as many nieces and nephews. Dean was also survived by his long term partner, Patti Pizzuto.

A Catholic Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Leo Catholic Church in Inwood, West Virginia. A celebration of Dean’s life will be held following the mass for family and friends at The Club at Cress Creek, in Shepherdstown.
