Charles W. Stanley

Charles Worth Stanley, 74, of Shepherdstown, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Winchester Medical Center.

Born Nov. 19, 1949 in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Elmer Eugene & Ruth Elizabeth (Canby) Stanley.

Charles was a graduate of Shepherdstown High School where he then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After his military discharge, he became an IRS employee where he worked as an IT Specialist. He was also a parishioner of Uvilla United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Charles “Chuck” Stanley, James W. Stanley; and the children of his late wife, Bobby Ortez, Curtis Ortez, David Ortez, Angela Kinard (Samuel); one brother, Michael Stanley (Ginger); two sisters, Joyce M. Thornton and Harriet E. Case (Bill); 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Susan East Stanley who passed away April 2021.

Family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Uvilla United Methodist Church, 4179 Shepherdstown Pike, Shenandoah Junction, WV 25442 with the Rev. Don Greger officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the funeral from 12-1 p.m.

Interment will be in Uvilla United Methodist Church Cemetery.
