Ruby Jean Nichols Ott

Ruby Jean Nichols Ott, 91, of Charles Town, WV passed away peacefully to be with her Lord on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Berkeley Springs Healthcare Center.

She was born June 28, 1933 in Shepherstown, WV and was the daughter of the late Rupert N. Nichols and Emma Cubbage Nichols.

Ruby was a graduate of Shepherdstown High School, Class of 1951.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Perry “Gene” Ott, Sr., her youngest son, Richard (Rick) Ott, three sisters, Katherine I. Whittington, Esther V. Nichols and Dorothy B. Nichols, as well as five brothers, Howard L. Nichols, Daniel R. Nichols, Douglas W. Nichols, Terrence R. Nichols and Kenneth E. Nichols.

Ruby is survived by her eldest son, Perry “Pete” Ott, Jr., and loving daughter-in-law, Cindy and loving daughter-in-law, Carol, one sister, Eleanor Welsh and (Donnie) and many sisters-in law and brother-in law that she loved as siblings. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She appreciated the help and support given by her special sister-in-law, Kendra Nichols, special nephews, Donnie Engle and Shawn Nichols and special niece, Traci Coffman.

For many years Ruby was the secretary for Harpers Ferry Elementary School. Later, she and her husband owned and operated Jefferson Sanitation as a family business for several years.

She took great pride in her home and enjoyed working in her beautiful flower beds. She also enjoyed getting together with her family and friends and spending good times with the children.

When you think of her, we hope you smile and remember Christmas cookies, picnics and hugs.

Ruby requested that there be no funeral service and interment to be private.

The family welcomed visitors for a chance to remember her life on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV

The family offers a heartwarming THANK YOU to the aides, nurses and staff of the Berkeley Springs Healthcare Center for showing her such kindness and compassion.
