Darlene D. Muse
Darlene D. Muse, 81, of Ranson, WV passed peacefully on December 12, 2024 at Fairfax, VA.
Darlene, daughter of Ellenora Colbert and step-daughter of Charles H. Colbert, was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hugh L. Muse and her son, Charles E. Muse.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Muse Siegel, son-in-law, Jason Siegel and grandchildren, Christopher Petersen, Jacob Muse, Noah Siegel, Ellenore Siegel and Benjamin Siegel. She also leaves behind her loving siblings, Nora Burke (Richard), Christine Raab (Richard), Susan Swartz (Ernie) and David Colbert, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved pup, Elsie.
The most striking thing about Darlene was her profound love of people and her boundless kindness. Her love for helping people led her to a career in Social Work and Behavioral Therapy after earning degrees from Shepherd College and West Virginia University.
Whether in times of joy or need, she was always the first to lend a helping hand. Her “family” extended well beyond her blood relatives- she often spoke with great affection about her “church family”, “other kids”, and her “bonus sisters”, embracing many into her heart as her own.
Darlene was deeply devoted to her faith and her church family at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Charles Town, WV, where she found strength, joy, and community. Her generous spirit and unwavering compassion will be missed by all who knew her.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 18. 2024 at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Charles Town, WV with The Very Reverend Robert E. Shives, II officiating. Interment will follow in Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town.
The family will receive friends at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV on Tuesday, from 6-8 pm.
