Golden Wesley Cole Jr.

Golden Wesley Cole Jr. (81) of Martinsburg died peacefully December 27, 2024 at his home.

Born April 28, 1943, he was the son of Golden W. Cole Sr. and Dorothy Wise Cole of Hedgesville.

Golden was a graduate of Hedgesville High School Class of 1962. He retired from Corning Glass Works with 36 years’ service. He was a member of Hope Community Church where he served for many years in various offices, such as Sunday School Superintendent, Asst. Sunday School Superintendent, Asst. Treasurer, Song Leader, Deacon, and Burnt Offerings Cook. He enjoyed traveling, listening to country and gospel music, and working on cars.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Murphy Cole; two children Rebekah (Phil) Eyler and Golden W. (Rachel) Cole III; four grandchildren, Samuel (Hannah) Eyler, Henry Cole Eyler, Golden W. Cole IV, and Gabriel Henderson Cole; one great grand-daughter, Emma Elizabeth Eyler; 5 sisters, Barbara Cole, Bessie Hollis, Karen (Curtis) Allen, Debra (Bill) Windle, and Roberta Lynn Cole; 3 brothers, Charles (Mary Grace) Cole, William Cole and Matthew Cole; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha (Robert) Cleveland and Peggy Cole; 2 brothers-in-law, Jeff Hollis and Robert Cleveland and one special sister-in-law, Gladys Lee Shepherd.

The family would like to extend thanks to everyone for their caring love and support during Golden’s illness.

The family received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Hope Community Church at 6867 Hedgesville Rd., Hedgesville, WV 25427.

Services were held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 3, 2025 at the church, with Pastor Chris Jones and Pastor Don Webb officiating.
