James Donald ‘Don’ Jones

James Donald “Don” Jones, 76, of Falling Waters, departed this life Wednes-day, January 22, 2025.

Born August 4, 1948, in Winchester, he was the son of the late Franklin LeRoy Jones and Eva Kite Jones.

James was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. He graduated from Shepherdstown High School, class of 1966 and earned his bachelor’s degree from Shepherd University, where he played on the baseball team. He was a chemist at 3M. He was a member of the Shepherd University Alumni Associ-ation; the Shepherdstown High School Hall of Fame; and a former Shepherd University Alumni of the Year, as well as a member of the Robert White Lodge and a 50-year member of the Moose.

He was incredibly generous and contributed to Shepherd University and many other Charities. His life mission was to do a good deed every day.

James is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cynthia Kay Grubb Jones, whom he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Ann Jones.

A memorial service was held Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 3PM at the Brown Funeral Home with Reverend John Yost officiating. Family received friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private.
