James Arthur “Art” Brown, Jr., 87, of Williamsport, MD passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Seaton Senior Living Hagerstown, MD.

He was born on November 28, 1937, in Hedgesville, WV to the late James Arthur Sr. and Mary Russell (Tabler) Brown.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy “Jane” Hilliard Brown on November 4, 2012.

Art was a 1955 graduate of Hedgesville High School. He also attended Shepherd College.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Art was employed by Mack Trucks, Inc. of Hagerstown, MD for over 25 years until his retirement. He was also a barber for over 60 years.

He was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church Williamsport, MD. He was a past Deacon and Elder and served on the building committee. He was very active in the church.

Art was a member of Potomac Post #202 American Legion Williamsport, MD; Marine Corps League of Hagerstown, MD; Conococheague Tribe #84 I.O.R.M. of Williamsport, MD.

Art is survived by his daughter Julia B. Taylor and her husband David of Ferndale, MI; son W. Jason Brown of Berkeley Springs, WV; son Jerred A. Brown and his wife Joan Bowers of Hagerstown, MD; grandchildren Chris, Danielle, Angelica, Josh, Kody, Tiffany, Jack, Gabby, and Olivia; many great-grandchildren; special friend and caretaker Melissa Lake.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Friday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services were held at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church Williamsport, MD on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11:00 am with Rev. Mark Sandell officiat-ing. Interment was in Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD. Military honors were provided by Clopper-Michael Post #10 American Legion Boonsboro, MD.
