Leo M. Viger

Leo M. Viger, 88, of Frederick, MD and former resident of Shepherdstown, WV for 34 years, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025 at Autumn Lake Birch Manor, in Sykesville, MD.
Leo was born March 20, 1936 in Quebec, Canada. He was the son of the late Alphonse and Florida Viger.
He retired in 2001 after 35 devoted years as a production assembly technician with Weinchel Engineering Company, in Gaithersburg, MD & later in Frederick, MD.
He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, in Shepherdstown, WV. He loved spending precious time with his family & lending a helping hand for many years at Tudor Hall farm. He enjoyed gardening, tinkering in his garage & just being outdoors in the sun & snow. To many folks who knew & met him, he’ll be remembered by his warm smile & his “french accent”.
He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Viger and Michael Lyons, son, Steve Viger, both of Frederick, MD; step daughter Phyllis Grantham of Kearneysville, WV; four grandchildren & two step granddaughters; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Beatrice Viger of Frederick, MD, who died Sept 2, 2022, and his second wife of 29 years, Mary L. Viger who passed away on July 9, 2014; two sisters and two brothers, all from Canada. Also his close step son-in-law Bill Grantham.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb 19, 2025 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, in Shepherdstown, WV with Father Andrew Switzer officiating. Friends will be received before the service, 12:30 to 1 p.m.
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Shepherdstown, WV.
