Prentice I. Thomas

Prentice I. Thomas passed away February 7, 2025, at the age of 90. Prentice, who was known as Buck, was born on June 1, 1934, in Tucker County, West Virginia, to the late Robert and Juanita Pifer Thomas, and was also predeceased by his sister, Janice Cloud.

Buck was an elementary school teacher for 32 years, primarily in Fairfax County VA. He was a 1952 graduate of Hedgesville High School, graduated from Shepherd College with a bachelor’s degree, and earned his Masters at UVA. He enjoyed playing guitar, shooting pool, playing basketball and tennis, and spending time with his 5 grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Carol E. Thomas; son, Jeff Thomas (Diane); daughter, Heather Thomas (Chet Kerr), and his 5 grandchildren, Jackson, Julian, Leigh, Georgia, and Nicole.

The family received friends at New Covenant Presbyterian Church from 11 am to 12 noon on Thursday, February 13, 2025, followed by a service to celebrate his life at 12 noon, with Pastor Jeff Elliott officiating. A graveside service was held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 12 noon in Hedgesville, West Virginia, at Hedgesville Cemetery.
