Patrick Luke

Patrick (Pat) Ryland Luke, born on October 23, 1949, in Parkersburg, WV passed peacefully in his sleep and was sent to his eternal home on February 23, 2025, in Shepherdstown, WV.
He was the beloved son of Ryland Richardson and Sylvia Rose, and cherished brother of Gregory Michael (Mike) Luke, all of whom preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving girlfriend Kimberlie Ann Schrider; daughter Mollie Jean Page and son Mason Paul Evans; sister-in-law Virginia (Genna) Katherine Luke; nephews John Michael, Jason Andrew and Adam Richardson Luke; grandchildren Haley Nichole Armstrong, Hannah Renee Armstrong, and Breanna Elizabeth Lucas; great-grandchildren Jaxson Lee Armstrong, Caroline Vera Journey, and Cohen Alyxander Journey.
After graduating from WVU in 1972 with a BS in Forestry, Pat started a long and successful career with the USDA, where he took great pride in helping farmers and landowners with the stewardship of their properties. Post-retirement in 2004, he founded and operated his business Outdoor Solutions, which focused on land and pond management, and was based on the Christian principles of faith, honesty and fairness. He labored with pride up until the year of his passing by helping local property owners maintain the beauty and ecological balance of their lands. His commitment to agriculture reflected his deep appreciation for the land and those who work it.
An avid outdoorsman, Patrick found beauty and worth in all aspects of nature; some of his favorite outdoor hobbies included hunting, fishing, horse-back riding, and Civil War reenacting. In terms of indoor pursuits, he was a dedicated pool player, loved to dance, and enjoyed working on all manners of mechanical machines. One of his proudest achievements was achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, the pursuit of which provided him with many of the skills that made him successful later in life.
Guided by his Christian faith, he was a simple, honest man who would do anything for anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends who remember him for his unwavering generosity and gentle spirit. His legacy of compassion and love will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
