Margaret Ramey Welsh
Margaret Ramey “Peggy” Welsh, 93, of Martinsburg, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Winchester Medical Center.
Born February 21, 1932 in Clark Co., Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William French Ramey and Mildred (Garver) Ramey.
She grew up in Charles Town and was a graduate of schools there and from Shepherd College. She took graduate studies at West Virginia University, George Washington University and held a master’s degree from Shippensburg University.
She had been a teacher and social worker in Berkeley County, before becoming associated with her husband in farming in the Swan Pond Greensburg section of the county. She and her husband developed Swan Dale subdi-vision. She had been a realtor associated with Town and Country Real Estate, Inc. and King Street Realty, Inc.
She was a member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church, where she served for many years as a Parsonage Trustee. She served several terms as secretary of the WV Peach Council and as president of Berkeley County Meals on Wheels. She was a volunteer with Loaves and Fishes. She had been an active member and past president of Gateway Garden Club. She was a volunteer in Berkeley County Schools with the Read Aloud Program.
Surviving are her devoted sister-in-law, Sandra R. Ramey, of Winchester, Virginia, niece, Ginny Hoffman and husband, Jim, of Martinsburg; cousin, Patricia B. Dick, and husband, Roy of Shepherdstown, WV; other dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William G. Welsh; an infant daughter, Marion Elaine Welsh; son, William G. Welsh, Jr.; brothers, Roger R. Ramey, William F. Ramey, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 3PM on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Brown Funeral Home with Charles Woodward officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions made to the Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County at 23 Poor Farm Rd, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
Interment will be private.
