Anne Hammond LaRue
It is with great sadness we announce the death of Anne Hammond LaRue, 97 years of age, of Celebration Villas in Martinsburg, WV on March 8, 2025.
Anne was born in Boyce, VA on January 18, 1928, the daughter of the late Walter and Lucy Foley, but resided most of her life in Jefferson County.
Anne was employed with the Acme Food Store and the Charles Town Stock Yard for many years, before retiring to help raise her granddaughter.
Anne was an active member of her community holding positions in UDC, DAR, Home Extension Club, Red Hat Ladies and at the Middleway and Rippon Episcopal Churches. She was a volunteer with the Jefferson County Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Hammond Hill, daughter-in-law, Derby Hammond, granddaughters, Christina Williams (Dulaney), Bethanne Elbert (Scott), Kelli Stewart (James), grandsons, Corey LaRue (Kim), Jason LaRue (Tonya), Jeremy LaRue (Danielle), great grandsons, Baylor Williams, Heston LaRue, Corbin LaRue, great granddaughter, Mady Burner, nieces, Powell Juliano, Jane Rutherford (John), Beverly Hill, nephews, Tim Shepherd (Sandy), Charlie Lucas (Linda) and Rick Lucas (Mary).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James ‘Skinny” Hammond and James Warren LaRue, sons, Jimmy Hammond, Aaron Hill, Jimmy LaRue, grand-daughter, Jessie LaRue and four sisters and one brother.
Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Elmwood Cemetery in Shepherdstown, WV.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in Anne’s memory, may be made to the Jefferson County Meals on Wheels or Hospice of the Panhandle.
