Daris Glenn Albright

Daris Glenn Albright, 79, of Martinsburg, WV, passed away on April 24, 2025, at Valley Health Medical Center in Winchester, VA.
Born in Norfolk, VA, in 1945, he was the son of the late Cameron and Jean Albright. He graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1963. He then went on to live a life devoted to music and education, having graduated from Shepherd College with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and music education, followed by West Virginia University with a master’s degree in music history. He was a gifted musician and served as a dedicated church organist for over 56 years, including 41 years at Calvary Church in Martinsburg.
Daris began his career as the Band Director at Harpers Ferry Junior High, serving for 17 years before becoming a mathematics and computer programming teacher at Jefferson High School for six years. His passion for technology led him to become the first Head of Technology for Jefferson County Public Schools. He later served as a Technology Systems Specialist and WVEIS contact for Berkeley County Public Schools, retiring in December 2023.
He is survived by his wife, Ronda Beth Albright, of Martinsburg, WV; son, Mark Albright, and wife, Samantha, of Gerrardstown, WV, and their children, Jillian, Luke, and Natalie; son, Matthew Albright, and wife, Kristen, of Hagers-town, MD, and their children, Fletcher and Waverly; and his brother, Gary, and wife, Margaret, of Martinsburg, WV.
An avid organist, pianist, and technology enthusiast, Daris’s passion and talents left a lasting impact on his family, students, colleagues, and community.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on May 26, 2025, at Calvary Church, 220 W Burke St., Martinsburg, WV.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Church (Memo line: MUSIC DEPARTMENT ).
