Cecelia Eleanor Denton

Cecelia Eleanor Denton died at The Hospice of the Panhandle on the evening of Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the age of 88. She was born on Oct. 13, 1936.

Cecelia loved her family with all her heart. Her family was the most important part of her life. She treasured family gatherings and spending time with her family members.

Cecelia enjoyed traveling whether it was in one of their recreational vehicles or as part of a bus tour or cruise. She and Clarence visited 49 states and also toured Canada. She loved touring our National Parks.

Cecelia was a federal employee in Maryland and West Virginia for over 30 years. She was employed in Fort Meade as a secretary from 1955-1971, and in Martinsburg, WV, at the IRS National Computer Center 1974 until she retired.

Cecelia is survived by her daughter Mary Carol Day and son-in-law Mark Day, brother Jerry and wife Elaine along with their children; grandchildren Christopher, Nathaniel, Holly and Jaime; great-grandchildren Ivy, Mallory, Cassidy and Adalyn; sister in law Ruby and her husband Dave, and sister-in-law Margaret and her husband Mac; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Cecelia was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Denton; parents, Mike and Mary Shai; sisters Elizabeth, Dorothy and Jeanette; brothers Charles and Michael; grandson Jonathan; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Cecelia’s viewing will be Thursday, May 08, 2025, at Strider’s Funeral Home in Ranson, WV from 11 a.m. to noon, with graveside service following directly afterwards at Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, WV with Dr. Henry Christie officiating.
