Raughn (Ralvin) Russell

Raughn (Ralvin) Russell, 74, of Ranson, WV passed away on May 19th,2025 at the WVU Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV. He was born on October 5th, 1950, in Kearneysville, WV to Ozalene Russell and the late Alvin M. Russell.

Raughn is survived by his wife Diane of 54 years, daughter Neena Russell and husband Norm, grandchildren Taylor and Coby Russell, Olivia and Brennan Porter, twin brother Vaughn and wife Kathy, brother-in-laws Max Moore and John Walters, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Brian R Russell and sisters Alvyce A Moore and Cynthia K Russell. Raughn will be missed by his family and special fur baby Fidget.

Raughn was of the Presbyterian faith. He was retired from E.I. Dupont, where he worked for over 40 years. He also worked at the Charles Town Racetrack and the Towne House Motel for many years. Raughn was an avid sports fan. He loved watching NFL football and horse racing at the Charles Town track. Raughn played many sports in school and was a member of the Shepherdstown band. He enjoyed playing and listening to music. Raughn loved the game of golf and playing at the Sleepy Hollow Golf Course.

Raughn was a dedicated, hard worker over the years. He had a wonderful smile and a special gift of making people laugh. Raughn you were the strongest man I knew, and you fought a long hard battle. Go rest in peace my love!

There will be a celebration of Raughn’s life announced at a later date. Donations can be made in Raughn’s name to the American Cancer Society.
