Donna Thompson

Donna Marie Thompson, 74, of Shepherdstown, WV, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at home.

Born July 11, 1950, in Martinsburg, WV, she was the daughter of the late Robert “Bobby” Lee Gano and Hazel Haines Gano (Slusher). She was a member of Marvin Chapel Methodist Church, in Martinsburg, WV.

Donna attended Charles Town High School, graduating class of 1968, then attended James Rumsey Technical Institute. Later she retired from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, D.C., where she proudly served as an Administrative Assistant.

She is survived by her loving husband, of 57 years, Johnny Thompson; one daughter, Julie Petersen (Erik); two sons, Robert Thompson (Karen) and William Thompson (Jessica); seven grandchildren, Justin Buffington (Shelby), Katelynn Bates (Justin), Mikaela Peterson, Chase Buffington, Ellen Petersen, Hannah Thompson, Ryleigh Thompson; two step-brothers, David and Danny Slusher; cousins, Brenda and Russell Carmosino; two great-granddaughters, Brynleigh and Kinsley Bates; and her beloved Pugs, Wally and Cissy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by step-father William Neil Slusher.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 12:30 P.M. at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Elmwood Cemetery, 4849 Kearneysville Pike, Shepherdstown, WV 25443, with Pastor Brian Darrell officiating.
