Eliza Belle ‘Sudy’ Mongan

Eliza Belle “Sudy” Mongan, 76, of Falling Waters, WV, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.

Born November 25, 1948 in Shepherdstown, WV, she was the daughter of the late James Harrison and Dorothy Virginia (Jenkins) Twyman.

Eliza is survived by her six children; sons, John Bell, Donald Douglas, Mark Martin, and James Thomas, III; daughters, Michelle Randall and Matia Swan. She also leaves behind ten siblings, ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved long-term partner, Douglas Mongan.

Sudy will be remembered for her loving heart, sharp wit, and strong will. She retired from Good Humor-Breyers after years of dedicated work. She had a fondness for collecting dolls and cow-themed trinkets, which brought her much joy over the years. Many of her peaceful hours were spent solving crossword puzzles and enjoyed the simple excitement of scratch-off tickets. Her stubbornness, though occasionally challenging, became a cherished and defining trait to those who knew and loved her.

A viewing was held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2025, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD.
