Loretta Mae Sarver Rose

Nov 7, 2025

Loretta Mae Sarver Rose was called to her heavenly home just after her 91st birthday earlier this year, entering heaven’s gates with peace and joy, reuniting with her family and friends who have gone before and were waiting for her there.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence William and Alma Pauline Shaffer Sarver; her brothers, Donald and Milton Sarver, and James Shaffer; her former husband, Mike Rose; and beloved daughter, Wendy Clarke.

Loretta graduated from Allegany High School, Cumberland, MD in 1951. She married Mike Rose in 1953 and had four daughters. In 1968, she graduated from Berkeley County Vocational School For Practical Nurses which was affiliated with Kings Daughters Hospital. She attended Shepherd College and became a medical laboratory technician. She worked at the City Hospital laboratory for more than thirty years; attaining the position as Blood Bank Supervisor.

She is survived by daughters, Darlene Bedwell of El Paso, TX, Melissa Rose-Williams of Martinsburg, and Stephanie Bartles of Falling Waters. Loretta also helped to raise her grandson, Shawn Robinson and great-grandson, Shawn Travis Robinson II. She also leaves grandchildren, Phillip Stanley, Jessica and Michaela Bedwell and great-grandchild, Jacob Robinson.

Her faith was important to Loretta. She attended Second Baptist, Shenandoah Bible Baptist and CenterPoint Bible Church over the years. Loretta last attended Independent Bible Church until her health declined. For the last five and half years, she lived with her daughter, Darlene, who cared for her until she passed. Loretta walked humbly with God and shared Christ’s love through her words and actions. She was an avid gardener all her life and had a green thumb. She loved her family and she will be greatly missed. We find peace in knowing she is with the Lord and that she now rests in the presence of her Savior.

She was buried in Pleasant View Memory Gardens with Pastor Curt Lowry and Pastor Mark Johnson officiating, followed by a celebration of life which was held at Independent Bible Church.
