It’s the most wonderful time of the year. The holidays are in full swing. Thanksgiving has come and gone, and Christmas decorations are being hung if they aren’t already and the gift shopping is underway.

One local festivity that will surely get people in the spirit is the annual Christmas in Shepherdstown celebration, which kicks off this evening in downtown Shepherdstown.

One of the many advantages of living in a small town is the town coming together during this time of year and celebrating friends, family, health and happiness.

The celebration’s theme is “Unity in the Community,” which not only represents the hard work of the organizations that put on the event but the coming together of individuals near and far.

Christmas in Shepherdstown hosts a slew of activities throughout the two-weekend fete. This evening the fun starts with the lighting of the town tree and the arrival of the Grinch, Mrs. Claus and, of course, Santa.

There is something for everyone the next two weekends. Bring the entire family and enjoy this wonderful holiday tradition.
