Project needs support

By Staff | Dec 7, 2012

16 tonsthat’s how much coal we could displace with energy efficiency in Shepherdstown – and that’s the goal for Sustainable Shepherdstown’s winter project. It’s simple: volunteers will go door-to-door in the Shepherdstown area to offer to install energy-saving tools for free, such as water heater insulators and high-efficiency light bulbs. There’s no cost for homeowners but there could be significant savings on electricity bills. For instance, simply adding an insulating blanket around a hot water tank could save $40 a yearevery year.

We need your help to make this project a success.

Please consider a donation for insulation supplies:bit.ly/16tonsproject. You can make this donation as a holiday gift to honor someone special, and we’ll send them a thank-you card on your behalf. You’ll also be entered into a raffle to win a complete energy efficiency audit by Home Efficiency Solutions LLC, a value of several hundred dollars. But the main thing is this: you’ll be giving energy efficiency to your community.

Every $15 donated will provide a water heater insulator for a household that needs one. We’ll need to install at least 50 insulators to reach 16 tons of coaland we can do this with your help. Please contactsustainable.shepherdstown@gmail.com for more information or to volunteer an afternoon to help with the installations. Thanks for supporting energy efficiency in Shepherdstown!
