Library extends thanks

By Staff | Dec 28, 2012

The Shepherdstown Public Library would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to all the discussion participants, donors and sponsors who participated in the fundraising event “The One You Feed.” The library and the Jefferson County Development Authority hosted the Dec. 5 evening, featuring “The One You Feed,” a book self-published by Victoria Horton.

The book was the object of discussion by Ms. Horton and eight young people from the community. The purpose of the book is to provide an opportunity to help restore the relationship and connectedness among generations. Each conversation is centered on a human character trait or emotion, such as “Regret,” “Attitude,” “Courage,” “Disappointment,” “Faith,” “Loyalty” and “Trust.” A short story provides the setting for the open-ended follow-up questions, each of which is then followed by a few of the most cogent quotes ever produced by humankind. For the fundraiser, which raised over $4,000, Ms. Horton donated 75 books, the Bavarian Inn provided wine and a beautiful spread of appetizers and Chef Scott Anderson from Shepherd University offered a stunning variety of Wisconsin cheeses. The book is available for purchase at the library.

Sincerely,

Hali Taylor
