A Response to Gary Dungan

By Staff | Feb 21, 2014

In his response to the Campaign for Liberty, of which I am a member, it seems that Mr. Dungan was caught up on the fact that he doesn’t like Chris or Gina Anders. While in his letter, Mr. Anders wrote about returning the Republican Party to its roots and holding politicians accountable it seems all Mr. Dungan is capable of doing is resorting to petty attacks suggesting they return to Maryland perhaps Mr. Dungan you should be reading into our party’s history of inclusion and tolerance.

Furthermore it is a very common mistake that the Republican Party was founded solely to eliminate slavery, if that were the cased we would have become antiquated and useless after the Emancipation Proclamation, the Republican party was formed with the ideas embedded in our Constitution and Declaration that all men are created equal and have a right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Three things which quite frankly, Mr. Dungan has seemed to have forgotten.

For a sitting member of our state’s Republican Executive Committee to suggest that the Campaign for Liberty is as big of an enemy as the Democrats and fighting the KKK, Jim Crow, and Racism is absolutely an insult to many hardworking citizens of this state and nation. I believe Mr. Dungan has not only reinforced the point that the Executive Committtee is out of touch but has in fact insulted members of the very community he claims to represent. I believe Mr. Dungan should issue a formal apology to the Anders as well as citizens of this great state who consider themselves part of the liberty movement. Mr. Dungan, your days on our state’s committee are numbered and for good reason, our party is rooted in the ideas expressed by Mr. Anders, to say that we are only about slavery is an insult to a Party which has fought for years to secure liberty.
