Praise well deserved
I am writing to thank the Rotary Club members for all of the hard work in making the Shepherdstown July 4th parade and picnic an overwhelming success for young and old. Everyone I talked to at both events had only positive things to say. I don’t think people expected a parade with such variety and community participation. And it was such fun watching people share in conversation, good food, and outstanding music in the unbelievably beautiful setting of Morgan’s Grove Park.
I want to especially commend Peter Smith who clearly was the force behind the wonderful parade that would make any town proud. The commentary that he wrote about each unit so clearly spoken by Todd Coyle was fascinating and informative. The organization of the parade was very professional and I feel certain that Peter worked tirelessly for many weeks making sure that everything was in order. Peter Smith is often involved in special events in Shepherdstown and never draws attention to himself. I was glad when the Gypsy Ramblers, one of the bands at the picnic, thanked Peter for his efforts. He helped with clean-up after the picnic and I know his truck was filled with essentials for both events.
Shepherdstown is an amazing place to live every day but especially on holidays. Thank you again to everyone who made our July 4th town celebration so very special.
Sincerely,
Beth K. Batdorf
