Thank you, Shepherdstown!
A little over a year ago Goodwill opened its newest store: Shepherdstown, WV. We want to say THANK YOU to the Shepherdstown community! You have made our first year a success! Cheryl Baume, the store manager spoke to me recently and reflected on how the community supported them throughout the first day and the first year.
Even before the store opened, folks in Shepherdstown were welcoming and helpful. Donors began to drop off donations as soon as we took the space. Some donors were very helpful and let us know that they were grateful that we put a store in their town. Our grand opening celebration was well attended and we got off to a great start!
One of the most memorable donations to the store was an extra-large bean bag chair that could seat three children or two adults comfortably. It was purple and fuzzy and wonderful! A young couple purchased it a few days after it arrived as a donation! Another unforgettable donation just sold a week or two ago: Fred the Lizard. Fred was a stuffed lizard who measured about six feet from nose to tail. He would ‘move’ around the store to various spots until he captured someone’s attention.
Because of the thousands of donors and shoppers who frequented the Shepherdstown store in the last 12 months, we were able to generate over 17,500 hours of vocational training for the people we serve in the four-state area. Your donations and purchases are changing lives!
We just want Shepherdstown to know how much we appreciate the support we have seen in this first year. We look forward to being a contributing part of this community for many years to come!
Thanks again!
