Personhood required
The Bible says in Proverbs 14:34 that “Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a disgrace to any people.” Any nation that allows the murder of its unborn children will never be exalted by God. We could easily reverse this tragedy in America or in a particular state if a legislature would simply declare that an unborn child is a person. The actual Roe v. Wade ruling states, “If the suggestion of personhood is established, the appellants’ case, of course, collapses, for the fetus’ right to life would then by guaranteed specifically by the Amendment.”
In 2015, our West Virginia Congressman Alex Mooney introduces H.R. 816, a life at conception personhood bill, in the US Congress. It was co-sponsored by Congressmen McKinley and Jenkins of West Virginia. I am 66 years old and I cannot remember a personhood bill ever being introduced in West Virginia. Why not?
Is this because we pro-lifers have been deceived by the great deceiver. If we believe a lie and think it is the truth, then we are deceived. We will repeat the lie believing it to be truth, thus deceiving many others.
In 1967, Colorado Republican Governor John Love signed a law allowing the murder of unborn babies conceived by rape or incest. That started the lie of dehumanization. Roe v. Wade continued it and every so-called anti-abortion law enacted since then, just as Hitler did in dehumanizing the Jews so he could “legally” kill 6 million of them. We have believed the lie that incremental pro-life laws have saved unborn babies’ lives. There is no factual proof of that. There are still over 3,000 abortions daily in America and all abortions aren’t reported. The abortion clinics ignore these laws just like criminals ignore gun laws. What these laws do is actually strengthen dehumanization and murder. These laws say you can’t kill these, but you can kill those babies that we don’t think feel pain or are under 20 weeks, etc., etc., etc. or wait 72 hours and then you can kill the baby.
All of our so-called pro-life bills really end up implying, “and then you can kill the baby”. I don’t think anyone would support legislation saying we’re going to protect all children in the womb except those that are black. That is exactly what we have done with our so-called pro-life laws, continually dehumanizing certain babies.
