In Search Of A Good Book

By Staff | Oct 27, 2017

I’m looking for a good book that was sold at the Legendary Book Sale! We want it back.

First, I would like to thank the people of Shepherdstown and the surrounding areas for supporting The Shepherdstown Community Club’s very successful 2017 Legendary Book Sale.

This missive is a Huge, Thank You to All that helped make this a success.

This year’s SCC Book Sale was one of our best in recent memory and provided needed income revenue for the Community Club. All proceeds go directly to the maintenance of the War Memorial Building (in the center of Shepherdstown) as well as the upkeep of the Morgan’s Grove Park, which many people don’t realize, is owned by the Shepherdstown Community Club.

I am humbled by all the volunteers who showed up early and helped with the book sale. The book organization was greatly facilitated by the work of the volunteers and the ever-ready Shepherdstown Community Club Board members. (Truly, a Working Board). Because of all of the volunteer work, we were ready to open early for seekers of vintage and classic books.

During the sale, I heard people comment “This is the best Book Sale around.” I received many compliments about how well organized the books where, by subject matter or author. This just reflects on the volunteers who helped to make the sale a success.

A final note. I want to try to speak to the customer – a happy woman – who bought our best kept secret. This would be The Amy Vanderbilt Cookbook. This cookbook included illustrations by Andrew (sic) Warhol. That would be the famous artist Andy Warhol from the 1960s on. Once you have thumbed through it, we would like to get it back from you. We would like to donate it to the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsbvurgh. One of our Board members is literally from the same parish as Andy in Pittsburgh. Call or email the Shepherdstown Community Club and we’ll talk.

The Shepherdstown Community Club values all the book donations for the benefit of the community. Any person willing to join the Shepherdstown Community Club and begin to make a difference in our community, please come to the next SCC open new membership meeting on Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. at the War Memorial Building. Or call me about joining if you cannot make that evening.
