Thanks for help during walkout

By Staff | Mar 16, 2018

The Shepherdstown Community Club was transformed into a Fun Free School for students on March 6. To support the West Virginia Teacher Walkout, the SCC opened its doors for an afternoon of reading, art, learning activities and fun for children.

Volunteers included retired teachers, students from local high schools, student teachers from Shepherd University, community and board members. The event was made even more special by the presence of Miss Jefferson County and Miss Mountain State, who stayed to read and entertain the children.

While the SCC was geared up to offer the Fun School for the duration of the walkout, the resolution of the strike meant students could get back to regular school the next day.

The Community Club offers its profound thanks to all the volunteers and students who joined in this effort.
