When unwanted mail appears in my mailbox, I either phone or write to the sender to state two things: don’t send anything else, and do not pass on my name and/or address to other companies. Both of these statements are important.

It takes a few months to kick in, but it works. Tossing unwanted mail in a container for recyclables does one thing – prolongs getting what you don’t want.
