Heartfelt thanks from the Shepherdstown Public Library

By Staff | Aug 30, 2019

The staff of the Shepherdstown Library would like to thank the following individuals who helped to make our 2019 Summer Reading Program a success: Elise Baach; Jennifer Bean, Lilah, Maia and Sabyn Carlisle; Sandy D’Onofrio; Jan Hafer; Jane Levitan; Pam Miller; Suzie Patrick; and Samantha Wells. Thanks for donating your time to help with “A Universe of Stories!”

And thanks very much to these businesses and organizations that so generously provided prizes or prize coupons to each of the children who completed a reading log: Blue Moon Caf, Chick-fil-A of Ranson, Creative Procrastinations and Whimsical Necessities, Four Seasons Books, German Street Coffee and Candlery, Grapes and Grains Gourmet, The Green Pineapple, Lost Dog Coffee, Mountaineer Popcorn, On the Wings of Dreams, Peterson Enterprises (Dairy Queen), River Riders, Inc., Shepherdstown Sweet Shop Bakery, Tonic Herb Shop, Up On The Hill and the Village Florist.

Without the following we would not have been able to present and publicize the programs we scheduled: the Corporation of Shepherdstown, The Shepherdstown Chronicle, the Shepherdstown Community Club, the Shepherdstown Police Department, the Shepherdstown Visitors Center, The Spirit of Jefferson and The Observer. Special thanks are due to our former Children’s Librarian Tara Carlisle for her months of work on our Summer Reading Program!

We appreciate the talents of the folks who educated and entertained hundreds of children and adults during our free events: the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center, Critters and Conservation, author/illustrator Kevin Sherry, musician Tony Martirano and the Maryland Science Center.

As always, very special thanks are due to FOSL, Friends of the Shepherdstown Library, for funding our Summer Program events and enabling us to offer stickers, bookmarks and small prizes as reading incentives.
