Residents, neighbors, friends and visitors, please enjoy this Fourth of July weekend safely.

At 11 a.m. Saturday, Independence Day, the Shepherdstown Fire Department will present the American flag, during a walk down German Street, beginning at Church Street and ending on Princess Street. Those of us who wish to view this event should adhere to precautions that will offer protection from COVID-19. The Fire Department has outlined COVID-19 safety guidelines for the presentation. Please wear a mask, practice physical distancing and maintain good hygiene.

As we stroll through town, be mindful of the efforts of the businesses and restaurants to provide a needed presence in our beloved community. Our community thrives on our caring for all creatures great and small. So, let us put our best foot forward, by continuing to be an example of how we should value the lives of our fellow man and our furry friends.
