Thoughts on the cancelation of Minor League Baseball season
I’m a member of the local Shepherdstown boy scout troop, Troop 33.
I’m writing to you regarding the article in the July 10 edition, “‘The Mighty Casey’ won’t strike out this summer.” My favorite team is the Frederick Keys, whose season was canceled. I feel that the closure of the season was an unfortunate but necessary act for the safety of the players, referees and fans. With America leading the world in COVID-19 cases, it’s important to close as many unessential things as possible.
I hope that the season can open up soon but if it doesn’t it might put the Keys and other teams at risk of shutting down permanently. I hope that the teams can survive the pandemic.
