Reaching out to former Blue Moon Cafe employees

By Staff | Jul 23, 2021

Shepherdstown Shares was created in response to the hardship brought on by the COVID-19 coronavirus to many Shepherdstown area residents. Our primary focus was on hunger and unemployment, loss of retail and restaurant business.

The generosity of this community allowed us to quickly and energetically respond with a food pantry, Work for Workers program, Share the Wealth initiative and other projects. The guiding Shepherdstown Shares principle is being able to make decisions and respond to a crisis right away. When people need help, they need it now.

To this end, we are reaching out to the workers from the Blue Moon Cafe who are now unemployed. Shepherdstown Shares invites all these folks, and indeed anyone in the Shepherdstown area in need, to take advantage of the help we offer, including our Food Pantry and other services.

We recognize that there will be ongoing need and that a crisis can arise at any time. We are continuing to develop new projects and services that can provide help and support where they are most needed.

For more information, please visit Shepherdstown Shares on Facebook or at shepherdstownshares.org. The Shepherdstown Shares Food Pantry is located in Trinity Episcopal Church’s chapel on the corner of Church Street and German Street. The pantry’s hours are: Mondays, 4:30-6:30 p.m.; Thursdays, 4:30-6:30 p.m.; and Saturdays, 2-5 p.m.
