Handbell concert benefits two Jefferson County food pantries
New Street United Methodist Church presented a Handbell Concert hosted by Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town, on Oct. 8.
The concert benefited two local food pantries: Jefferson County Community Ministries and Shepherdstown Shares.
The concert included bell choirs from Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town, under the direction of Faylee Wilt; Williams Memorial United Methodist Church in Shenandoah Junction, under the direction of Doug Nichols and Kevin Carter; New Street United Methodist Church in Shepherdstown, under the direction of Nancy Cleaver; and Floris United Methodist Church in Herndon, Va., under the direction of Laura Shelton. Each bell choir performed two beautiful music pieces of their choosing that ranged from “Hallelujah” to “Bell Boogie” and everything in between. The grand finale included all of the bell choirs joining together, performing “When We All Get to Heaven” under the direction of New Street’s music director, Nancy Cleaver.
It was a wonderful afternoon that provided a great amount of food and monetary donations that were presented to the local pantries!
