Thanks from the community

By Staff | Jan 19, 2023

I am sure that I speak for many in the greater Shepherdstown community, in expressing my appreciation to whomever is responsible for the recent paving and marking of the street entrance to Maddex Square Shopping Center and its residential area.

The repaving and marking has been a long time in coming, but deserves recognition and thanks from our citizens. The safety hazards of persistent deep potholes and drivers’ efforts to avoid them have been a source of aggravation and resentment to those who frequent the shopping center and its residential area for a number of years.

Most of us surmised that the delay in repaving the area was the result of either a jurisdictional dispute or simple corporate neglect. Many of us are aware that we are sadly behind in maintaining and upgrading our national infrastructure, so this was a good place to begin fixing that on a local scale. The completion of this project also deserves our acknowledgement and thanks, as it has made it possible for us to feel an increased sense of pride in the appearance of our community.
