Thankful for the work of a retiring visionary

By Staff | Sep 8, 2023

Let word go forth that Hali Taylor built the Shepherdstown Public Library. A lot of people sort of thought that, but for those who have known Hali a long time, as I have since 1983, we can attest to the fact that she was the instigator, visionary, patient, far-sighted leader and persuasive fund-raiser behind the library’s building project. To some, especially newer-comers to town, the final appearance of this wonderful library building seemed like something that was inevitable. No folks, it wasn’t. It was Hali.

Go look at all the bricks around the Shepherdstown Public Library with the names of donors to the building’s realization. Now you can share in the joke behind one, particularly humorous, one of them that says, “Hali Taylor – You’re Welcome!”

Get the point, friends? There was never a real thank you. Until now. Hali, thank you.
