The Shepherdstown Community Club (SCC) is proudly marking 80 years of service to our town in 2025. Since its founding in 1945, SCC has been dedicated to showing up for the community, building connections and investing in future generations. This milestone gives a nod to the past and stands as a renewal of SCC’s commitment to Shepherdstown’s future.

One of our most significant efforts has been the ongoing restoration of the War Memorial Building. Time has taken its toll on the building, and so our volunteers are actively working to address structural repairs and improve its functionality. Through grants, fundraising and generous community support, we are ensuring this historic space remains for future generations.

Morgan’s Grove Park, which SCC owns and maintains, is more than just an island amid encroaching development. The park is a place where families, friends and visitors come together to play, make memories or simply take a walk. Over the past year, we have focused on ecological restoration and planning longterm stewardship efforts. Looking ahead, we are excited to build a community stage there, creating a dedicated venue for performances, gatherings and events that will also help generate much-needed revenue to sustain the park.

There is much to look forward to in 2025. Thanks to a grant from the West Virginia Division of Arts, Culture and History, Shepherd University graduates will install a mural near the playground this spring. Earth Fest will also return here for its second year, celebrating the park and our community. The Beeline March Commemoration will honor Shepherdstown’s role in the American Revolution, as part of the march’s 250th anniversary celebrations this year, as well. Our free outdoor movie nights, Story Walks and stargazing events will continue, along with our Labor Day Picnic tradition, bringing folks together for food, music and family-friendly activities.

SCC’s mission has always been to serve Shepherdstown and the surrounding community.
