Ashamed of our elected officials
Why West Virginia? Why?
It seems Governor Patrick Morrisey just isn’t interested in growth in West Virginia. Young people are leaving our state in record numbers to find work and careers elsewhere and businesses are closing. Farms and small businesses are impacted by taxes and tariffs from the federal level. The legislation considered in our state doesn’t support the poor or the hungry or help people with real needs — instead, it now allows you to legally stand on your motorcycle, should you have the need. We don’t need stupid laws like these, that achieve nothing beneficial for the people of West Virginia.
Soon, due to the enactment of the Big “Beautiful” Bill, people will be off Medicare, Medicaid and medical insurance. This will save the federal government millions, but who is fighting for the people of West Virginia? How are we supposed to care for our elderly and disabled family members? Now we seem to be supporting ignorance in science, medicine and technology. This isn’t helping anyone in our state. Basic education is in danger of becoming extinct and being replaced with religious ideology; not everyone is a Christian or even believes in God. What happened to the separation of church and state? Kids going back to school need to be vaccinated, and everyone should get immunized who can. No one wants another measles, mumps, whooping cough or polio outbreak! Soon hospitals and clinics will start closing, as they lose their support and funding. We will have nowhere to go or anyone to turn to, to help us. People will die from these changes in legislation.
The current federal government doesn’t support West Virginians, and Governor Morrisey and our leaders in Washington, D.C. only support President Donald Trump. I have seen the commercials by Senator Shelley Moore Capito — it disgusts me, to think that instead of supporting West Virginia’s needs she openly states she is supporting Trump’s agenda. That’s not what we voted for when she was elected! We are being treated no better than serfs!
Once again, areas prone to flooding have flooded, wiping out homes, businesses and lives. How many times must this happen before the issue is addressed? Nothing is ever done.
Now our precious sons and daughters are being deployed to cities, which do not want or need them. This is a violation of the U.S. Constitution — simply wrong. Cities can handle their own crime issues, as they have during other turbulent times in the past.
We are losing our history, our culture and the multicultural way of life that makes us unique and special. Our people, our state and our country deserve better!
Shame on our elected officials for forgetting their sole purpose — to represent and protect the interests of “we the people.”
