Heartfelt thanks from the library

August 16, 2013
Shepherdstown Chronicle

The staff of the Shepherdstown Library would like to thank the following individuals who helped make our "Dig Into Reading!" Summer Reading Program a success: Heather Childs, Breighton and Kathleen Dawe, Evi Hammer, Lily Hill, Agnes "Vi" Jones, Rita Luders, Pam Miller, Wendy Mopsik, Lilly Noel, Suzie Patrick, Rita Rudolf, Angela Severson, Gloria Thatcher and Michele Thomann. Thanks for so generously donating your time to help with our Summer Program!

Thanks very much to these eight businesses and organizations that generously provided prize coupons or gift certificates to each of the children who completed a reading log: Four Seasons Books, Grapes & Grains Gourmet, The Lost Dog, Mountaineer Ice Cream Company, On the Wings of Dreams, Shepherd University's Wellness Center, the Shepherdstown Sweet Shop Bakery, and Up On the Hill.

We appreciate these talented performers who entertained hundreds of children and adults at these three locations during six free events: Nancy Jenks and her students from the Allegro School of Dance Studio; Christopher Robin and Elaine Shaw of the Rainbow Company; the Shepherdstown Community Club; Suzanne Offutt and Liza Jonczak of Shepherdstown Elementary School; the Shepherdstown Train Station; Kevin Sherry; Anne Hamilton and the drumming group "Stone Soup;" Erin Whitcomb and other members of the Society for Creative Anachronism's Shire of Sylvan Glen and Jane and Joe Santoro of Wonderment Puppet Theater.

As always, very special thanks are due to FOSL (Friends of the Shepherdstown Library) for funding our Summer Program events and enabling us to offer thousands of stickers and bookmarks as reading incentives.

Sincerely,

Lillian Bauer and Anne Eden
