SHEPHERDSTOWN — The West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission (WVSSAC) will put in place a four-classification basketball system when the sport commences anew in the 2020-2021 school year.

All the schools in both Berkeley and Jefferson counties will be placed in the newly implemented Class AAAA.

Hampshire, which was placed in the same Class AAA Sectional with Jefferson and Washington, will remain in Class AAA.

There will be 29 schools in the newly found Class AAAA. Nearly all the teams previously placed in the Class AAA ranks will be moved up to the Class AAAA ranks. Joining the AAAA teams will be Bridgeport and Oak Hill, previously in a lower classification.

There will also be 29 schools in the Class AAA division.
