Women’s soccer falls to Charleston, 4-0
HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Kimberly D’Angelo scored two goals and assisted on another to lead Charleston to a 4-0 win over Shepherd University in quarterfinal action of the WVIAC Women’s Soccer Tournament at Mike Callas Stadium on Monday night.
Sabrina Mullaney scored at the 7:53 mark on a feed from D’Angelo to give Charleston a 1-0 lead at the break. The Golden Eagles took a 2-0 lead when Brittany Loveland scored on a penalty kick at the 65:20 mark.
D’Angelo scored on an assist from Jessica Bigg in ther 82nd minute and added a second tally in the 86th minute on a feed from Raquel Hill-Spranger. Shepherd had a 17-12 advantage in shots while Charleston had a 1-0 edge in corner kicks.
Junior Tessa Jones (Gaithersburg, MD/Magruder ) (two) and sophomore Elizabeth Wise (Newark, DE/Caravel Academy)(one) combined for three saves in goal for the Rams, while Catherine Perry had seven saves for the Golden Eagles.
Shepherd completes its season at 8-8-2, while Charleston improves to 6-9-2. Charleston advances to face Alderson-Broaddus in WVIAC Tournament semifinal action on Friday.
