SU volleyball edged by Shippensburg
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shepherd University dropped a 3-2 decision to Shippensburg University in volleyball action at Shippensburg on Wednesday evening. The Lady Raiders gained a 26-28, 25-21, 20-25, 25-22, 15-5 victory.
Sophomore middle hitter Melani Lewis (Bay Shore, NY/Brentwood) and sophomore middle hitter Meg Kenny (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass) each recorded 12 kills for the Rams.
Senior setter Lauren Jeschelnik (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown) turned in an impressive all-around effort with 36 assists, 20 digs, nine kills, and four blocks.
Junior outside hitter Lauren Gardner (Clarkson, MI/Clarkson) added 10 kills and 14 digs, while junior outside hitter Kasey Mercier (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) had 18 digs and a team-high three aces.
Jill Edwards had 23 kills and eight digs to lead Shippensburg.
Shepherd falls to 16-15 overall, while Shippensburg improves to 14-19. The Rams return to action on Friday when they host Glenville State for Senior Night at 6 p.m.
