Smith gains 100th career win

Shepherd University gained a 3-0 win over Glenville State in WVIAC volleyball action at the Butcher Center on Friday evening. The Rams posted a 25-9, 25-14, 25-20 victory to give head coach Sarah Smith her 100th career win.

Senior setter Lauren Jeschelnik (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown), junior outside hitter Kasey Mercier (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales Academy), sophomore middle hitter Meg Kenny (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass), and freshman outside hitter Lauren Wilkins (Winchester, VA/Sherando) each had six kills to lead the Rams. Mercier also added five aces and four digs.

Junior setter Sara Michael (Winchester, VA/James Wood/HCC) added 24 assists and seven digs, while freshman setter/defensive specialist Taylor Belella (Smithsburg, MD/Smithsburg) tallied nine digs.

MacKenzie Willneff had eight kills and seven digs to lead Glenville State.

Shepherd improves to 17-15 overall, 9-5 in conference play, while Glenville State falls to 6-25, 2-12. The Rams await word on seeding for next week’s WVIAC Tournament
