Shepherd pair gains weekly honors
Sophomore center Gabby Flinchum (North Potomac, MD/Wootton) of the Shepherd University women’s basketball team and junior guard Brantley Osborne (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy) of the Shepherd men’s team each gained WVIAC Co-Player of the Week honors for the Rams.
Osborne, who shared the honors with Kurklin Bohanon of Alderson-Broaddus, led the Rams with 21 points in the win over previously unbeaten Charleston. Osborne drained seven-of-11 shots from the floor, including a five-of-seven effort from downtown. He also dished out two assists and grabbed a rebound in 41 minutes of action. Osborne scored six of the team’s 15 points in the overtime session.
Flinchum, who shared the accolades with Hailey Garrett of Fairmont State, guided the Rams to a win in the team’s lone outing last week. In the victory over Charleston, Flinchum netted a career-high 26 points and pulled down 12 boards. She connected on 11-of-12 shots from the field and was four-of-six from the foul line. Flinchum also added two assists and blocked a pair of shots.
