Shepherd softball signs 5

Shepherd University head softball coach Leslie Lopez announced today that five student-athletes have signed letters-of-intent to play softball for the Rams in 2014.

Courtney Gibson (Ashburn, VA/Stone Bridge), a second baseman/outfielder, lettered in softball and cross country at Stone Bridge. A member of the regional champion team in 2012, Gibson gained first team All-District and All-Region honors, while garnering second team All-State accolades.

Karlyle Pence (East Palestine, OH/East Palestine), a pitcher/outfielder, lettered three years in softball and two in volleyball at East Palestine. Pence boasts a .446 career batting average with a .481 on-base percentage and 80 runs batted in. She has a 46-14 pitching mark with 456 strikeouts and a 1.46 career ERA.

Jennifer Schofield (Forest Hill, MD/Bel Air), a first baseman/third baseman, lettered in softball, volleyball, and basketball at Bel Air. She is a three-time All-Harford County selection in softball.

Rubie Teffeteller (Camp Hill, PA/Cedar Cliff), an outfielder/infielder, lettered for four years in softball at Cedar Cliff. Teffeteller gained Team MVP and first team all-star honors last season.

Alexandra Witt (Harpers Ferry, WV/Jefferson), a pitcher/infielder, is a three-year letterwinner in softball at Jefferson. She is a three-time All-PVC selection who gained Team MVP honors in 2011. Witt was a member of the sectional and regional champion team that finished third in the state. She is a three-time All-State selection who gained second team honors in 2011 and 2012. Witt batted .474 with nine homers and 44 runs batted in last season. She posted a 13-9 mark with 128 strikeouts as a pitcher.
