Flinchum named WVIAC player of the week
Sophomore center Gabby Flinchum (North Potomac, MD/Wootton) of the Shepherd University women’s basketball team has been named WVIAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office.
Flinchum guided the Rams to a 3-0 week with her stellar effort. In the win over Wheeling Jesuit, Flinchum tallied a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. She added four blocks, three assists and two steals. Against Seton Hill, Flinchum totaled 13 points and eight assists while swatting away six shots. She also added three assists and a steal in just 25 minutes of work. In the victory over Fairmont State, Flinchum posted a team-high 20 points to go along with a game-high 11 rebounds. She blocked seven shots, had two assists, and two steals.
For the week, Flinchum averaged 14.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 5.6 blocks per game.
Flinchum helped propel the Rams to a 6-5 WVIAC mark and seventh place in the league standings. Shepherd heads to Ohio Valley tonight for a WVIAC match-up.
