Senior cornerback Keon Robinson (Fairfax Station, VA/Lake Braddock) of the Shepherd University football team was named to the 2012 Don Hansen Division II All-America Team. Robinson was a second team selection.

Robinson helped spearhead a Shepherd defense that led NCAA II in rushing defense (52.64), while ranking eighth in tackles for loss (8.73) and eighth in scoring defense (16.64). He recorded 52 tackles on the year with 40 solo stops. Robinson had four interceptions (one touchdown), 10 pass breakups, a pair of fumble recoveries, and a blocked kick. He added 14 kickoff returns for a 20.6 average (one touchdown) and 17 punt returns for a 10.9 average (one touchdown).

Shepherd finished the 2012 season with an 8-3 overall mark with a 7-1 conference record as WVIAC champions. The Rams ranked 25th in the final AFCA poll.

The Don Hansen Division II All-America Team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988.

A total of 175 players earned some form of Don Hansen All-America honors. Players from 83 of the 157 football-playing schools in Division II earned Don Hansen All-America accolades.
